Nigerian footballer contracts coronavirus

•Italian-Nigerian footballer, King Paul Akpan Udoh

King Paul Akpan Udoh, Italian-Nigerian player, has become the first footballer to be infected with coronavirus. The footballer of Nigerian descent currently plays for Pianese, an Italian Serie C side. The striker was diagnosed of the disease on February 27, and he has been quarantined. The 22-year-old started his career with Reggiana before moving to Juventus in 2011 where he was loaned back for a year.

The Covid -19 started in Wuhan in China in 2019. So far, almost 100,000 people have been infected with over 2000 deaths world wide.

The virus has quickly spread the world over with outbreaks in Italy and Iran.

Italy is the country in Europe with the highest number of reported cases. Some Italian Serie A matches were postponed last weekend as a preventive measure against the spread of the virus.

Nigeria reported its first case on Friday, February 28, the patient was an Italian who just returned from Milan

PDP chieftain, Metuh, to spend 7 years in prison for money laundering

Ex-PDP scribe Metuh cries out, says all my accounts frozen, can’t feed my family, buy Panadol or water to drink

A former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh has been sentenced to a total of 39 years in prison for money laundering by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

Metuh’s conviction was in respect of his activities preceding the 2015 general elections, in which former President Goodluck Jonathan was the presidential candidate of the PDP.

The trial judge, Justice Okon Abang, while delivering judgment on Tuesday, convicted the former PDP spokesman on all the seven counts, including the receipt of N400m from the Office of the National Security Adviser in November 2014 and the use of the money for political activities of the PDP and for his personal purposes.

He was also convicted Metuh for transacting with a cash sum of $2m without going through a financial institution.

Justice Abang, in the judgment also held that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) successfully proved that Metuh’s the transaction violated the anti-money laundering law pegging the maximum cash transaction an individual undertake outside a financial institution at N5m.

He was sentenced to seven years imprisonment each for counts 1, 2, 4 and 7, five years imprisonment in respect of count 3, and three years each in respect of counts 5 and 6.

Justice Abag however ruled that the sentences would run concurrently, while he was ordered to pay a fine of N375m to the Federal Government and his company, Destra Investments to pay N25m to the Federal Government, which was ordered wound up.

The accounts of the company with Diamond Bank and Asset Resource Management are also to be closed and their proceeds forfeited to the Federal Government.

NUC, MDCAN face-off: Medical doctors withdraw services from varsities Monday

The face-off between National Universities Commission (NUC) and Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) over the mandatory PhD demand on clinical lecturers has worsened as MDCAN has withdrawn its services from medical education in all medical colleges of Nigerian universities.

The association had earlier threatened to embark on strike if the NUC did not withdraw its circular to Nigerian universities on compulsory postgraduate training for clinical sciences from medical education.

Recall that NUC through a circular directed Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian universities and the Registrar of the National Postgraduate Medical College that doctors teaching students in the universities must have PhD to qualify them for the job, noting that residency training leading to the procession of fellowship was not enough to qualify them to teach medical students in the university.

Addressing newsmen in Jos, the National President, MDCAN Professor Kenneth Ozoilo, who said the association will withdraw its services from Medical education as from Monday said it was an established fact that the curriculum content of the fellowship far outstrips that of the PhD.

“While the PhD is a predominantly academic pursuit, the fellowship is both academic and professional, and as of today, is the minimum qualification required to practice as a specialist, and to teach medicine. Let me also add that this the practice worldwide.”

He pointed out that “all the comments of the NUC have failed to address a basic fundamental question such as what is the deficiency in medical education currently that the NUC plans to correct by imposing the PhD on medical lecturers?”

Professor Ozoilo explained the Executive Secretary of NUC was right in pointing out that some of the MDCAN members do have PhD but failed to point out that in such instances, it has been a purely personal, voluntary and optional endeavour tailored to the career needs of individuals who have elected to pursue chosen career pathways in research and not necessarily to advance their teaching skills or patient management skills.

He said the interview granted by the Executive Secretary has altogether shed a lot of light on the thinking in the NUC and how it relates with the people it deals with.

The MDCAN president, therefore, declared thus: “Come midnight February 24th 2020, we shall withdraw our services from medical education in Nigeria and focus our energies on caring for our patients. We wish the NUC and the universities good luck in finding the doctors with PhDs to man their medical schools.”

The Medical and Dental Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal, on Tuesday in Abuja, arraigned three medical doctors for their alleged roles in the death of three-month-old Peace Oluwole.
The accused medical practitioners, Dr. Iyoha Joseph, Dr. Obafemi Kuye and Dr. Mukaila Oyewunmi Oladipo, were accused of conducting themselves unprofessionally by administering unnecessary drugs, delaying necessary actions and exposing the baby’s system to unnecessary drugs, which resulted in his death.
The doctors were presented before a panel headed by the chairman of the tribunal, Prof. Abba Hassan.
The baby was admitted to the R. Jolad Hospital in Gbagada, Lagos State, in March 2013, where the three doctors work. He was returned after he was discharged in distress before his death.
The charge sheet read by the Registrar of the Council, Dr. Tajudeen Sanusi, said the three doctors acted infamously contrary to the rules of the code of medical ethics of Nigeria, 2008 edition, and punishable under the Medical and Dental Practitioners Act Cap M8 Laws of the Federation on Nigeria 2004 as amended.
Dr Iyoha Joseph was accused of discharging the baby prematurely on March 11, 2013 when he did not observe and document clear indications that the baby had recovered from the ailment for which he was admitted, thus causing his death. He was also accused of claiming to be a specialist pediatrician when he did not have any additional qualification registered by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
Dr. Obafemi Kuye was accused of seeing the baby but failed to take adequate history of the baby or attend to him.
Dr. Mukaila Oyewunmi Oladipo was accused of failing to take remedial measures to relieve the patient of an obvious respiratory distress when he was re-presented at the hospital after being discharged earlier, and delaying other procedures for more than 30 minutes which eventually contributed to the baby’s death
The three accused doctors pleaded not guilty to the seven-count charges preferred against them.
Hearing continues tomorrow.

His name is Dr Okonta and he works with FMC Owerri as a Gynecologist and at Vedan Hospital Owerri as a consultant. He met his wife who was a Nurse at Vedan Hospital Owerri but didn't do his background check on her properly. His wife injects petiden/painter on a daily .She gradually increased the doses to 8shots a day and became a real junkey. It affected her and she was taken to a Rehab which her husband paid for. After coming out and not having access to the shot as the Hospital had sacked her, she embraced other cheap drugs and was admitted again in the rehab a second time. She came out of the rehab but relapsed after a while and was rehabilitated a third time. Coming out of the Rehab she chose to move out of the house so as to have unfettered access to her Drugs and her guys. Her husband in all these never stopped caring and looking for a solution to her attachment to hard drugs.

He was coming out of the Church when he saw his wife and her 4guys and she told them, this is my husband ....kill him! The boys descended on the man knocked out all his teeth and left him for Dead. She then called his mother to come pick up his dead body. He is presently in the ICU unit of FMC and my personal friend who happens to be his friend as well has visited and given me the details this night.

EXPOSED: How newly sworn-in PDP Deputy Governor of Bayelsa Forged His Bsc Certificate (Photos)

Fresh report has it that the Sen Erudjakpo has no records there apart from the fake certificate currently with INEC. Going further, he forged his NYSC certificate. This was where he made the most obvious error. According to the fakes (see attached pictures) he graduated on 3rd February 1998 and was given his purported letter of exemption on 2nd February 1998, that is, his exemption letter came before his graduation.

But that is not all. He forged two NYSC exemption letters with varying spelling of his names (see photos below)

To that effect, on 28 November 2019 a federal High court in Abuja ordered the arrest of Senator Lawrence for criminal forgery, but he somehow evaded arrest by staying out of circulation

The PDP pair will be sworn in as governor and deputy respectively, that is certain. What is not certain is if they can make it through another quarter of this year without getting sacked. The battle for Bayelsa is merely half way gone
