Coronavirus fact-check: Separating fear from fanadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will isolate himself for 14 days after his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, tested positive for coronavirus.

Grégoire Trudeau has mild symptoms and is feeling well, and will remain in isolation for 14 days, the Prime Minister's office said in a statement late Thursday.

She came down with mild flu-like symptoms Wednesday following a speaking engagement in the UK. Health officials are reaching out to those who've been in contact with her, the office said.

"The Prime Minister is in good health with no symptoms. As a precautionary measure and following the advice of doctors, he will be in isolation for a planned period of 14 days," the office said.

It added that on the advice of his doctors, he'll not be tested since he has no symptoms. He'll continue with his duties, and plans to address Canadians on Friday.

"For the same reason, doctors say there is no risk to those who have been in contact with him recently," his office said.

Grégoire Trudeau thanked those who've reached out to her and said she's doing well.

"Although I'm experiencing uncomfortable symptoms of the virus, I will be back on my feet soon," she said. "Being in quarantine at home is nothing compared to other Canadian families who might be going through this and for those facing more serious health concerns."

Canada has 147 confirmed cases of coronavirus, including one death. The virus has caused dozens of government officials around the world -- from administrators to heads of state -- to take precautionary measures after finding out they've been in contact with infected people.

*NUC And Consultant Doctors Reach Agreement Over Academic Requirements*

Dear NEC Member and colleagues,

RE- FELLOWSHIP VERSUS PHD CRISIS

Following the intervention of the Chairman, House Committee on Health and the House Committees on Healthcare Services and Tertiary Education, a mediation meeting was brokered between the MDCAN and NUC. Initial discussions which commenced in plenary on Tuesday 3rd of March, 2020 and continued at committee level on Wednesday 4th of March, 2020. Present at the meeting today were the representatives of the House Committees on Healthcare Services and House Committee on Tertiary Education, NUC team led by the ES, Prof. Rasheed Ibrahim, the Chairman Committee of VCs, Chairman Committee of Provosts of Colleges of Medicine, Representative of the Registrar MDCN, Representative of the NPMCN, President of NMA and the MDCAN team led by the President.

At the end of the meeting, the following resolutions were reached:
1.That the Fellowship is the highest qualification for clinical specialists and remains the qualification for employment for clinical lecturers into the University (Lecturer I)

2.That the PhD is the highest academic qualification in the University

3.That the possession of PhD by clinical lecturers is voluntary and optional

4.That non- possession of PhD will not hinder the clinical lecturer from being promoted from one rank to the other up to the level of Professor in the Nigerian University system

5.That the NUC circular of 24th December 2019 creates room for wrongful interpretation to mean that those without PhD will not enjoy career progression and is to be therefore replaced by a fresh circular without such ambiguity
In the course of the discussion, a lot of technical issues arose surrounding the relative roles of key stakeholders such as the Universities, NPMCN and the MDCN.

It was agreed that the NUC should issue a fresh document to correct the impression created by the previous circular especially with respect to points 4 & 5 above, and an appeal was made to MDCAN to call of its strike (withdrawal of services) while discussions will continue concerning sundry matters affecting consultants at the committee level.
Consequently, the NUC has availed us of a fresh document today to supersede the previous one correcting the wrong impressions earlier created.
We have however clearly impressed on the committee that NEC is the only organ of the Association with the powers to take decisions on the strike. It is the belief of NOC that sufficient progress has been made to warrant an emergency NEC to examine the offer at hand, analyze the matters arising and re- strategize on the way forward.
Notice for an emergency NEC meeting will be sent for Saturday, 7th March, 2020 in Abuja. NEC members are strongly urged to attend as there are more issues emerging which are of interest to MDCAN beyond the current PhD issue.

 A Different Perspective I am a great fan and admirer of Cirque du Soleil and over the years have been very fortunate to see a number of their absolutely sensational shows. At each of these shows, I have joined thousands of other people in the circus tent to reflect in total awe on the amazing and seemingly impossible acrobatic feats in each performance. When this is coupled with the larger than life sense of theatre that engulfs everyone, it leaves you inspired and full of appreciation for what you have just seen. Just recently I had the opportunity to see the same Cirque du Soleil show for a second time within a space of about a month. At the first show, my wife and I were seated about thirty rows back from the stage, so you could imagine it was not easy to see all the expressions on the faces of the performers or for us to fully appreciate the passionate effort that they put into their individual performances. However, what we were able to enjoy was the wonderful panorama of the overall performance. At the second show, we were fortunate to be seated in the second row just a couple of meters from the stage and we could now see close up the performers and their expressions. Equally, having seen the show before, we both looked forward to seeing our favorite segments for the second time. Driving home after the second show, we talked about which of the two shows we enjoyed the most and also whether it was better to sit close to the stage or further back. We agreed that both shows were equal in terms of their spectacle and enjoyment, but from two totally different perspectives. In seeing the show for the second time, our appreciation of the absolute brilliance of Cirque du Soleil was significantly enhanced and without doubt will always be remembered. In the days that followed it occurred to me that there are some parallels between the experience we had at the two Cirque du Soleil shows and what happens in our every day lives when we deal with the many challenges that face us. How often do we make a decision about something important to us based on one single viewing of the facts or act just on what are our first impressions of the situation, without taking the time to gain a better feel for things? By way of example, when we read a good book or watch a movie for the first time it is so easy to believe that we now have a full understanding of all that we have just read or seen. Then at some later point, if we read the book or watched the movie for a second time we are almost certain to discover lots of other important things that we missed the first time around. Whilst we often don't have the opportunity to consider an important challenge or situation for a second time before we make a decision about the course action we will take, we should always endeavor to make time to stand back and view things from afar in order to gain a perspective of the bigger picture, and then be able to revisit the challenge or situation close up to see the finer detail and further improve our understanding. In the light of the different perspective that a second viewing can provide to us, we would then be in a better position to make a more balanced and considered decision about the action we should take. I am sure if we all strived to do this, the outcome may very well be as enjoyable and uplifting as my second visit to Cirque Du Soleil. Happy new Month Have a glorious week Ahead
