. *Principle Of Purpose*: 

It is now a popular saying that when the purpose of a thing is not known abuse is inevitable. For most people, Marital Union is just another additional milestone that adults gain when they reach a certain age, and maybe achievement. Friends, family, colleagues, and community expect it of you, and sometimes shove a 'gentle' pressure on you when you seem to _*come of age*_, after all, the Bible says "none shall lack a mate". But come to think of it, of what use is it watching your parents work hard to earn enough money to raise you up and give you the best education they can afford so that you can get a good job, earn enough pay to get married and also raise your children with the best you can afford, and the cycle continues? The whole rat race of life continues world without end! 

Do you really believe the family is the *cornerstone* of society, the *bedrock* of the nation and even the economy? No, you don't! If you do, how come you have spent all those years studying and working hard, developing skills to qualify for your present career, business and ministry, but you haven't read up to 10 books on marriage and 4 books on parenting, and you're already 10 years in marriage with 4 kids? *REPENT!* Few of us will ever have the opportunity to own a business, let alone be employers of labour in a profitable business, but many of us will have the opportunity to found a home and start a family with kids. Every organization, business or institution no matter how small is established to *meet a need* or *solve a problem* in the community or society at large. They call this their *Vision or Mission Statement*, it summarizes their *PURPOSE* for being, their *REASON* for existence. How much more do our families need one! When you consider that the family is more vital than that your business and career, and that you and your spouse are the *President* and *Vice President* of a unique Institution and Company with your children as *Employees*, your *attitude* will radically change. Your spouse is not primarily there to meet your personal needs (spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and/or physical), but to *work* with you in *Cheerful Cooperation*, *Heartfelt Commitment* and *Creative Excitement* towards the fulfilment of a well-defined *Purpose* which will be your *Family Mission Statement*. 

I saw a Family Mission Statement somewhere that I liked and chose to adopt and review...

If we understand this principle of purpose, our marriages with take on a new meaning and vigour. There will be less *quarrels*, and we will have a more *Perfect Union*.
