The senators behind the suggestion are infuriated over the perceived support of Buhari for the case instituted against Saraki and the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, for forgery of the Senate Rules

Senate
There was serious tension at the Senate closed-door meeting on Tuesday over suggestion by some loyalists of the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki,‎ to commence the impea‎chment of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The senators behind the suggestion are infuriated over the perceived support of Buhari for the case instituted against Saraki and the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, for forgery of the Senate Rules.
At the resumption of the Senate sitting after the Sallah break, which lasted for two weeks, Saraki called for a closed-door session.
The session lasted for about one and a half hours.
During‎ the closed door meeting, one of Saraki’s loyalists raised the issue of withdrawing the suit against Saraki and Ekweremadu by the lawmakers that wrote the petition to the Police.
The senator, who is from the North Central, asked his colleagues to lunch a full scale war against the Presidency so that the Executive will be compelled to back down on the matter.
But a female senator from the South West, who‎ is also the wife of a former governor, appealed to his colleague to take the matter easy.
Infuriated by the senator’s comment, Saraki’s allies immediately stood up and threatened to beat the female senator if she was not careful.
